October 7th, 2009 - NLDS Series 2 Game 1




The LA Dodgers went right after Cardinals' ace Chris Carpenter, scoring 5 runs off the Cy Young runner up. Manny Ramirez and Ronnie Belliard led the charge, while James Loney hit a moon shot into the left field stands to give the Dodgers a 6-1 win. Randy Wolf was solid over 6 1/3 innings, and closer Jonathon Broxton finished the 8th and then earned the save in the 9th. Cardinals' slugger Albert Pujols was shut down, going 0-3.

The Los Angeles(NL) Dodgers had very little trouble at Dodger Stadium downing
the St. Louis Cardinals. The score was 6 to 1.

St. Louis never recovered after Los Angeles(NL) took the lead in the 3rd
inning with 2 runs utilizing 2 base hits. Russell Martin led off and started
the rally when he hit a single. Randy Wolf stepped up to the plate and he
laid down a sacrifice bunt. Rafael Furcal then tripled. Matt Kemp was up
next and he hit a sacrifice fly. That was all the runs Wolf(1-0) needed.
Los Angeles(NL) had 8 hits for the night.

Jonathan Broxton earned the save, his 1st. Chris Carpenter(0-1) was the
losing pitcher. He pitched 7 innings allowing 7 hits and 2 walks.
