October 16th, 2009 - ALCS Game 1

A wet night in the Bronx made pitching difficult. Angels starter Jerod Weaver yielded 9 hits and 6 walks in only 5 and 2/3 of an inning, but it was Yankee ace C.C. Sabathia who suffered more as his 11 hits and 2 walks resulted in 8 Angels runs in 4 and 1/3 innings en route to a 10-3 win in game one of the ALCS. Torii Hunter continued his torrid pace, going 4 for 4 with a home run and three RBIs, but he was upstaged by teammate Kendry Morales who hit 2 home runs and doubled, also robbing Robinson Cano of an extra base hit down the first base line. Mark Texiera led the Yankees with two doubles, continuing his superb post season.

WEB GEMS- Bot 5th: Kendry Morales robbed Jorge Posada of a base hit.

First baseman Kendry Morales smacked 2 homeruns and had 3 RBI as the Los
Angeles(AL) Angels defeated the New York (AL) Yankees by a score of 10 to 3
at Yankee Stadium.

Morales had a big evening at the plate. He doubled which scored a run in the
5th inning, blasted a solo shot in the 7th inning and hit a bases-empty home
run in the 9th inning. Offensively, Los Angeles(AL) was a juggernaut. They
scored in 6 separate innings.

Jered Weaver*(2-0) allowed 1 run in 5 and 2/3 innings, and picked up the
victory. C.C. Sabathia(1-1) was given the loss. He was unable to control the
Los Angeles(AL) offense and allowed 11 hits and 2 walks in 4 and 1/3 innings.
