October 7th, 2009 - ALDS Series 1 Game 1

The New York Yankees continued their dominant ways as the playoffs opened today in New York. C.C. Sabathia was dominant, allowing only 3 hits and 1 run in 7 1/3 innings. Home runs by Mark Texiera and Hideck Matsui gave the Bronx Bombers enough of a cushion that AL Cy Young winner Mariano Rivera could take the afternoon off. With 4 hits each, the Yankees 1B and DH provided all of the Yankees' offense. Brandon Inge's two hits were the Tigers' only notable performance all day.

three-run bomb in the 3rd inning, banged out a one-base hit in the 5th inning
and smashed a solo-shot out of the park in the 7th inning. Overall New York

about. making adjustments as the season goes along.'
